Every year since 1995 I've pointed people to
a list of Chicago area volunteer-based tutor/mentor programs and said "choose one where you can use your time, talent and dollars to make a difference".
Almost every article on this blog focuses on helping well-organized, mentor rich non-school k-12 youth programs reach kids in every high poverty neighborhood. As we move through July I invite you to browse through past articles written during this time of year and apply the ideas to helping kids in Chicago and other cities.
Since there is no single master list showing every youth serving organization in Chicago or any other city I created
this concept map to point to my lists, and to other sites which also serve as resources for learning about youth organizations in Chicago and other cities.
Take some time to get acquainted with the information, then spend time weekly encouraging others to do the same.
