Birth To Work Blueprints Needed

I woke up around 5 am this morning with this thought."We use detailed blueprints as guides to build buildings. Business plans try to think through every detail before launching new products. Why are there no blueprints showing all the things we need to do to help low income kids through school and into jobs and adult lives?" Heavy dream.

In one of my visual presentations I had said "Engineers and architects rely on a massive set of complex blueprints to build hotels, factories and tall buildings.  America needs a similar set of blueprints to help; millions of kids living in big scities and rural areas rise from a birth in poverty to be in jobs and careers by age 25."

I searched articles on this blog that I've written since 2005, for the term "blueprint, and found 31 stories focusing on planning, leadership and strategies needed to help communities build systems of support, featuring non-school, volunteer-based, tutoring, mentoring and learning programs, that reach kids when young and provide support until they are working.

This presentation shows what I've been trying to build since 1994. It's been available to leaders in Chicago and other cities for more than 16 years.

This round of national elections will be over in a couple of weeks. The work of building these blueprints and the public will needed to support them will still be the responsibility of individuals and organizations who take the time to read these articles and consider ways to add the ideas to their own strategies and actions.

I'd be happy to help you think through these and the other ideas I share on this blog and the Tutor/Mentor Institute, LLC site.
